Museu de Història de Catalunya (MHC)
The Museu d’Història de Catalunya is located in Port Vell, in the Palau de Mar, the only remaining building at this site from the 19th century. The purpose of this Museum, inaugurated in 1996, is to teach visitors about Catalan culture and its evolution, using related objects and documents, from historical recreations and from settings that transport the visitor to the period being relived. It has a permanent exhibition that recreates the History of Catalonia in seven stages, from Pre-history to the present day, as well as exhibitions of temporary collections related to Catalonia. The Museum has four floors, with Restaurante 1881 on the top floor; open every night and offering great views of Port Vell, as well as a midday menu.
