Who would have said that Barcelona would have so many fans of Japanese comics? Well, they exist and they get together every year for this fair. Although it is not actually an obligation to dress up as a manga character, it may seem that way as hundreds of visiting fans of all ages really do so. This meeting point acts as a way of getting to know novelties in the sector, there are visits from revered authors of the genre, and videogames are presented that are about to be launched onto the market.
This year there is also a special feature on Japanese food, and the fair has organised a meeting between the prestigious chefs Ferran Adrià (El Bulli) and Hiroyoshi Ishida, chef of the exclusive Tokyo restaurant Mibu. Both professional chefs worked closely together in 2003 and their partnership even had its own recreation in the form of a manga comic.
