In spite of being a proudly modern city, there are certain traditions in Barcelona that have remained alive and unchanged for decades. The procession of the Three Wise Men of the East is one of those (the equivalent of the tradition of Santa Klaus in Northern European countries).
Organized by City Hall every 5th of January, it travels through various avenues in the city center. From the procession’s floats, the assistants to Wise Men Melchor, Gaspar and Balthazar throw candy to children to sweeten up their afternoon and make their wait shorter and more bearable, for that very night the Wise Men distribute gifts to all of the city’s houses. Apart from the main procession, each Barcelona neighborhood organizes its own procession.
Cabalgata de Reyes.
Address: Various streets in the center of Barcelona.
