Located on La Rambla not far from the Teatre del Liceu opera house, the Escribà family bakery is housed in a small modernist building stuffed with delicious sweets. Considered one of the city’s best patisseries, there are also a few tables inside and on its small terrace.

Almost directly opposite the opera house, this is an iconic establishment founded in 1929, and ideal for crowd watching over a good coffee.

Take your pick from the selection of typical “tapas” dishes lined up on the long bar, and keep hold of your toothpicks – they count them up to figure out what you owe at the end. Besides the beer and cava, this place also has “txakoli”, a refreshing white wine from the Basque country.

A small place with a long history, this bar is located towards the top end of La Rambla. They have a large selection of fresh, hot sandwiches, best washed down with a glass of cool lager from the tap.
